Integers! Integers!

It feels like it has been so long since I've sat down to write to you... :)

Last week was just a week! Evals and Conferences and... and...

We continued our study of integers last week and that continued over to until today. I cannot express how important it is that everyone nail down these concepts. Let me just be clear in the language so you'll know what I'm expecting of them.

Adding Integers:
  • If the signs are the same, add the numbers and keep the sign
  • If the signs are different, subtract the smaller from the bigger, keep the sign of the bigger
Subtracting Integers:
  • ADD THE OPPOSITE
  • Follow the rules for addition
Multiplying/Dividing Integers
  • + * + = +
  • - * + = -
  • + * - = -
  • - * - = +
We'll be looking at a test/quiz coming up soon. Check the class docs for a copy of the integer packet that your children have completed for ideas on what kinds of problems we're talking about.
