Today we started out with a warm up division problem that ended up being the springboard for our entire lesson! We talked about exactly what those remainders are when we're done with a division problem, how to check a long division problem using a calculator, and how to get that decimal-y thing at the end of our answers!
Plugging in a calculator will not give you the answer of "16 remainder 1" -- which is where this conversation and lesson came from. :)
In turn, they have a sheet with some multiplying and dividing practice problems on it (which is #8 in their notebooks) which is for homework this evening.
